Blessing in Disguise
Baldwin had removed Churchill from power before the war. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Churchill:
Wheels of providence: Ezk. 1
But if thou feelest thyself to be a man, and a ruler of men, lay this first to heart, that there is a wheel on which the affairs of men revolve, and that its movement forbids the same man to be always fortunate.
Ambition and purpose
Churchill:
Tragedy leads to opportunity
Hamilton as a teenager survived a hurricane. After it was over he wrote a letter about it that would change his life:
Providence
At the ferry landing all this time troops and supplies and artillery were being loaded aboard one boat after another as quickly as humanly possible and sent on their way. Everyone worked furiously. A Connecticut soldier manning one of the boasts would remember making eleven crossings in the course of the night.
All things work together for good
XVII.2 A. Said R. Huna said Rab in the name of R. Meir, and so it was taught on Tannaite authority in the name of R. Aqiba, “A person should always make it a habit of saying, ‘ Whatever the All-Merciful does he does for the good.’”
