Herodotus may be giving an extra biblical confirmation of the golden statue made by Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel chapter 3.

The following story took place in Babylon, not long after Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were rescued from the fire. The response of Cyrus makes it appear he knew this story. The fact that he knew Daniel makes it plausible:

Eusebius uses Daniel 9 and the prophecy of the Seventy Sevens as a proof for Christ:
